‘Stranger Things 3’: Welcome to the Starcourt Mall – See Steve’s New Job at Scoops Ahoy (Video)

The place has a Claire’s!

Let’s go to the mall!

On Monday, Netflix released a commercial for Hawkins, Indiana’s latest attraction: the Starcourt Mall. OK, it is really a teaser for “Stranger Things 3,” but the clip is all about promoting the new shopping center, which has a Claire’s, Sam Goody, The Gap and the best establishment of them all, ice cream parlor Scoops Ahoy.

And guess who works at the sweet shop? Why Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) of course, who looks so excited to be rockin’ the sailor-themed uniform at his new after-school job. The teen with the hottest hairdo in the Upside Down is seen in the advertisement beside his co-worker, Robin (a new character for Season 3, played by Maya Hawke).

Here’s the official description for the small Indiana town’s cool new hang (per Netflix): Coming to Hawkins in the Summer of 1985…the Starcourt Mall! Starcourt Mall will be one of the finest shopping facilities in America and beyond with options for the entire family. Including The Gap, Waldenbooks, Sam Goody, Claire’s and more! Don’t forget to cool off at Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream shop. Starcourt Mall has it all!

The only bummer in this otherwise upbeat promo is the note at the very end: “coming next summer.” So does that mean “Stranger Things 3” isn’t actually going to drop on Netflix until Summer 2019? Ah, let’s not go there.

Though we don’t know when it will debut, we do know production has already begun on the third season, with Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), David Harbour (Chief Hopper) and Winona Ryder (Joyce) all returning.

New residents include Hawke, Cary Elwes and Jake Busey. Elwes is coming in as Mayor Kline, the sleazy head of the small Indiana town, with Busey playing a journalist at The Hawkins Post. Hawke will be joining the crew as Robin, “an alternative girl who is equal parts sharp and playful,” who uncovers some of Hawkins’ dark secrets.
