Things got pretty serious — and pretty crazy — at the end of “Succession” Season 1. By the looks of this first HBO teaser-trailer, it doesn’t appear Season 2 will be any rosier.
The sneak peek opens with Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) returning to New York City, where he has to face his father (Brian Cox) with inside information about the time he tried to betray the family patriarch and media mogul.
Quick refresher: the Season 1 board-takeover didn’t take, and the finale placed Kendall forever in dad’s debt.
“Dead man walking,” Roman (Kieran Culkin) remarks about his big brother while meeting in secret outside of the city.
“He’s like an old, beaten dog,” sister Shiv (Sarah Snook) says.
Yeah, things aren’t going so well for Kendall.

The teaser also includes a brief — but perfect — moment between Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun). How we’ve missed those two.
Season 2 of “Succession” debuts in August. We’re still waiting on an exact date.
“Succession” was created by Jesse Armstrong, with the pilot written by Armstrong and directed by Adam McKay. Alongside those two, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod and Tony Roche executive produce the series.
Armstrong is showrunner.
In addition to those mentioned above, Season 2 stars Hiam Abbass, Alan Ruck, Peter Friedman, Rob Yang, J. Smith Cameron, Dagmara Dominczyk and Arian Moayed.
