Suge Knight, Katt Williams Arrested on Suspicion of Stealing Female Photographer’s Camera

The L.A. County D.A. says the theft happened outside a studio in Beverly Hills

Hip-hop mogul Marion “Suge” Knight and comedian Micah “Katt” Williams have been arrested on suspicion of stealing a celebrity photographer’s camera, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Williams was arrested Wednesday morning after he arrived at an Inglewood courthouse for arraignment in a separate assault case, according to the D.A.’s office. Also on Wednesday, Knight was taken into custody in Las Vegas on a fugitive warrant charge, and an additional charge of driving on a suspended license warrant.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that officers tracked Knight down after getting a tip that he was in the area from Beverly Hills police.

The two men took the female photographer’s camera on Sept. 5 outside a studio in Beverly Hills, the D.A.’s office said in a statement.

Each has been charged with one count of robbery. L.A. County prosecutors said they plan to ask that bail be set at $1 million for Knight and $75,000 for Williams.

Neither Williams nor Knight is a stranger to law enforcement.

On the morning of Aug. 24, Knight and two bystanders were shot at a pre-VMAs party at 1Oak in West Hollywood, hosted by Chris Brown.

Knight, 49, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told TheWrap at the time. The former Death Row Records CEO spent several days in the hospital as he recovered from his injuries.

He was previously shot in the leg in 2005 at a VMAs pre-party in Miami. And in 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur was fatally shot in Las Vegas as he rode in a car driven by Knight. The hip-hop mogul has also been in and out of prison.

Williams, who’s appeared in several comedy specials and the films “Scary Movie 5,” “First Sunday” and “Friday After Next,” has been arrested multiple times on weapons and assault charges.

The 43-year-old faces up to seven years in prison in the robbery case, prosecutors said. Because of an earlier conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, Knight faces up to 30 years to life in prison.
