It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s two more series regulars added to CBS’s “Supergirl” project.
Veteran actors David Harewood and Chyler Leigh joined the cast of the network’s upcoming superheroine drama on Thursday, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. Television told TheWrap.
Andrew Kreisberg has also been added to “Supergirl” as a writer-executive producer alongside Ali Adler and Greg Berlanti, the second of whom worked with him previously on two DC Comics-inspired CW series, “Arrow” and “The Flash.”
Harewood (“Homeland,” “Selfie”) will play Hank Henshaw, a former CIA agent who heads up the Department of Extra-Normal Operations and tracks extraterrestrial threats. In DC Comics lore, he eventually becomes Cyborg Superman. Leigh, meanwhile, (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “That ’80s Show”) plays Kara’s/Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) foster sister Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, described as a confident doctor who became fascinated by her sibling’s powers at a young age.
Harewood played David Estes on 24 episodes of Showtime’s “Homeland” and more recently starred on ABC’s short-lived sitcom “Selfie.” On the film side, he starred in “Blood Diamond” and a 2004 rendition of “Merchant of Venice.” He’s currently filming “Grimsby” alongside Mark Strong, Isla Fisher and Rebel Wilson.
APA, Conway van Gelder Grant and Authentic Talent and Literary Management represent him.
Leigh played Dr. Lexie Grey on the ABC drama “Grey’s Anatomy” for multiple seasons. She has also enjoyed runs on The WB’s “Safe Harbor” and “7th Heaven,” Fox’s short-lived “That ’80s Show” and ABC’s “The Practice.” On the film side, she starred in the 2001 spoof “Not Another Teen Movie.”
UTA, Burstein Company and Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson and Binder represent her.
