‘Supergirl’s’ Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart Argue Feminist Semantics in New Clip (Video)

It’s the “Supergirl” vs. “Superwoman” debate

Supergirl is ready to take on the world — or at least National City — though her human alter ego would really prefer a more mature-sounding moniker.

Melissa Benoist pushes for the title of “Superwoman” in the new CBS clip, before she is put in her place by an overbearing boss.

“What do you think is so bad about ‘girl’?” Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant asks. “I’m a girl. And your boss. And powerful. And rich. And hot. And smart.”

“So if you perceive ‘Supergirl’ as anything less than excellent, isn’t the real problem, you?” the Daily Planet editor concludes. Cue flying.

CBS’ “Supergirl” debuts Oct. 26 in a special 8:30 p.m. ET time slot before moving into its regular 8 p.m. time period on Nov. 2.
