Many “Supergirl” fans’ fears are coming true: There will be less Cat Grant in Season 2.
The CW confirmed Monday that Calista Flockart, who plays Melissa Benoist‘s boss, will be a recurring guest star rather than a series regular for the show’s second season.
“Supergirl wouldn’t be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant,” executive producer Andrew Kriesberg said in a statement Monday. “We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen.”
Flockhart’s downgraded role was speculated about since the show moved networks from CBS to The CW, and production moved from Los Angeles — where Flockhart resides — to Vancouver, Canada. Her limited screentime was hinted at with the recent casting of “Cougar Town” alum Ian Gomez, who will play Snapper Carr, Kara’s new boss.
Carr is described as a headstrong, sharp-witted news man who is hired by Cat Grant to be the Editor-in-Chief of her Catco Magazine.
Other new “Sueprgirl” cast members include Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as the President of the United States.
“Supergirl” will return for its second season on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
