“Hedwig and the Angry Inch” has unveiled the glamorous first photo of Taye Diggs, star of “The Best Man” film franchise and TV show “Private Practice,” who returns to Broadway this summer as the titular character in the 2014 Tony Award winner for Best Musical Revival.
The show posted the image, by photographer Sebastian Mader, on its Instagram account Wednesday along with a quote from Diggs: “Hedwig is the role of a lifetime.”

Diggs will play Hedwig in the acclaimed musical for a limited 12-week engagement starting July 22 at the Belasco Theatre in New York. This will mark Diggs’ first New York stage role since the 2005 revival of “A Soldier’s Play.”
The actor is currently in production on the second season of Steven Bochco’s crime drama “Murder in the First,” which will premiere June 8 on TNT.
