Ted Cruz Accuses Donald Trump of Mob Ties (Video)

Texas Senator insinuates that GOP frontrunner may be hiding connections to organized crime in unreleased tax returns

What bombshell is Donald Trump hiding in his unreleased tax returns? Ted Cruz thinks he knows.

The Texas senator and Republican presidential candidate took to NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday morning to push the idea that GOP frontrunner Trump has ties to organized crime.

“There have been multiple media reports about Donald’s business dealings with the mob, with the mafia,” Cruz said in an interview with host Chuck Todd Sunday. “Maybe his taxes show those business dealings are a lot more extensive than has been reported.”

Todd then cut Cruz off, calling the accusation “openly speculative” and challenging Cruz to produce evidence of Trump’s alleged mafia dealings.

Cruz cited unspecified ABC and CNN reports of dealings between Trump and a company owned by mobster Anthony “Fat Tony” Salerno.

Trump has been under growing pressure from his political rivals to release his financial information. He claimed in the Republican presidential debate this week that he is currently being audited, and will release his financial records once that audit has been completed.
