Ted Cruz is contemplating a comeback so unlikely even Lazarus may have to do a double take — jumping back into the 2016 presidential race.

The Texas senator seems to think there’s a way back on the train to the White House, telling conservative radio host Glenn Beck he’d be open to reentry if he wins the primary in Nebraska on Tuesday.

But numbers on Predictwise may suggest he’d have a better chance of getting struck twice by lighting. On a summer day.

“We launched this campaign intending to win. The reason we suspended our campaign was that with the Indiana loss, I felt there was no path to victory,” Cruz said. “If that changes, we will certainly respond accordingly.”

Asked whether he would support Trump in the off chance he can’t find his way back from the dead, Cruz said there’s no need to rush anything.

“This is a choice every voter is going to have to make. I would note, it’s not a choice we as voters have to make today.”

Cruz is not the only big-name Republican to sit this one out.

Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and former GOP presidential nominees Mitt Romney and John McCain have all said they’re busy rearranging their sock drawers and simply can’t find time to attend the party’s convention in July.

Even House Speaker Paul Ryan has said he’s not yet ready to endorse his party’s presumptive nominee.
