Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And, really, who do you want to flatter more than a 17-year-old who took a cardboard cutout of you to their prom?

On Monday, Danny DeVito revealed via “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” co-star Rob McElhenney’s Instagram account that he had not only seen the story about Allison Closs, the teen who went viral for bringing a life-size cardboard cutout of him — complete with tie — to her special night, but the actor decided to one-up her.

“Hey Allison- I heard you took cardboard Danny to Prom. What a coincidence. He took cardboard Allison to Paddy’s…” wrote McElhenney, alongside shots of Closs’ original stunt and his co-star posing with a cutout of the high school student in her formalwear on the “It’s Always Sunny” bar set.

While we’re not sure when Season 13 of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” will premiere, it looks like they are currently filming. Or at least the gang made a quick trip to the Paddy’s Pub set, if only for the sake of this joke.
