After a rocky reunion, Clarke accepted Lexa’s terms and made the citizens of Arkadia the 13th clan of the coalition of grounders, on the newest episode of “The 100.”

Seemingly unsure of what to do, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) at first accepts Roan’s (Zach McGowan) suggestion of murdering Lexa, only to find herself not being able to go through with it when the knife is at her throat.

Without a choice, she chooses to join Lexa’s (Alycia Debnam-Carey) coalition, making the citizens of Arkadia the 13th clan, meaning she herself and all her friends would be under the command of the one who betrayed them at Mount Weather last season.

“I think Clarke also realizes that she has to step up and realize the loyalty to her people, and the powerful position that she’s in,” Debnam-Carey told TheWrap of the change of heart. “What sacrifice that Lexa makes, she’s also going to do the same thing. She recognizes that in both of them.”

Clarke’s decision is met with resistance from Abby (Paige Turco), Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) and especially Bellamy (Bob Morley), but despite their urging, Clarke decides to stay in Polis as the rest of her people return to Arkadia in the wake of the explosion at Mount Weather.

Of course, she declares her reasoning to be that she needs to make sure Lexa keeps her word.

“What will bring them together is that they have a collective understanding of doing it for their people, and really trying to form some kind of unity,” said Debnam-Carey. “She’s the first of the commanders so far that has a bit of an open mind and is open to the possibility of what if we can make this work?”

With the Ice Nation is already making big moves, and with the introduction of Queen Nia (Brenda Strong), Lexa and Clarke may need each other more than ever.

“The 100” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
