Ratings: ‘The Bachelorette’ Hits Season High in Viewers, Dumps ‘American Ninja Warrior’

“The Bachelorette” beat up on its broadcast competition Monday when the ABC dating series hit a season high in total viewers.

As a direct result, ABC won primetime outright. Led by “American Ninja Warrior,” NBC finished in second.

ABC was first in ratings with a 1.2 rating/6 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 4.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Bachelorette” from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. earned a 1.5/8 and 5.6 million viewers. “Grand Hotel” at 10 received a 0.6/3 and 3.2 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 0.8/4 and in viewers with 4.5 million. “American Ninja Warrior from 8-10 averaged a 0.9/4 and 4.8 million viewers. At 10, “Dateline” had a 0.7/3 and 3.9 million viewers.

Fox and Telemundo tied for third in ratings, both with a 0.5/3. Fox was fourth in total viewers with 2.3 million, Telemundo was fifth with 1.5 million.

For Fox, “Beat Shazam” at 8 got a 0.6/3 and 2.5 million viewers. At 9, “So You Think You Can Dance” had a 0.5/2 and 2.1 million viewers.

CBS and Univision tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.4/2. CBS was third in total viewers with 3.3 million, airing all reruns; Univision was sixth with 1.2 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 1 million. “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” at 8 had a 0.2/1 and 1.1 million viewers. At 9, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” got a 0.2/1 and 903,000 viewers. A repeat followed.
