From DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures comes “The Bad Guys,” a great antihero story about five notorious ‘villains’ who undertake the challenge of turning good, but also using that guise to pull off their biggest heist yet. In human and humanoid animal world, there is an award for the best-behaved person or creature every year: the golden dolphin.
Wolf, Snake, Webs the Tarantula, Shark and Piranha could care less about being good or helping people, because their talent lies in bad behavior. The Chief of Police dreams of the day she can capture and arrest all five of these clever crooks, but they have evaded her thus far. New and familiar voices bring this entertaining action-packed movie to life, based on the book series by Aaron Blabey.

The Big Bad Wolf (Sam Rockwell)
The Wolf leads the pack. He drives the getaway car, masterminds most of their plans and even narrates the beginning action sequence, introducing his squad. It’s Wolf who first catches wind of the Golden Dolphin trophy awarded every year to the person who has been the most good, and he cooks up a plan for stealing the trophy from its recipient, Professor Marmalade. Smoothtalking and suave, Wolf is voiced by Oscar-winning actor Sam Rockwell who has appeared in “Iron Man 2” (2010), “Seven Psychopaths (2012), “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” (2017) “Vice” (2018) and“Jojo Rabbit” (2019). He has also lent his voice to the animated films “G-Force” (2009), “Trolls 2: World Tour” and “The One and Only Ivan” (2020).
Snake (Marc Maron)
Snake is a bit more wiley than Wolf. He acts like he has thick skin, which many reptilians do, but he can be a softie when it counts. Snake is Wolf’s right hand man, and his skills range from slithering through tight spaces to unlocking safes. Maron has had roles in “Almost Famous” (2000), “Frank and Cindy” (2015), “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates “ (2016) and “Joker” (2019) as well as the Netflix series “GLOW.” He also hosts the WTF podcast.
Webs the Tarantula (Awkwafina)
Awkwafina voices the one girl in the group of guys. Webs, a tarantula, is small enough to hide easily and sneak into places, and her hacking habits are unmatched. Her eight legs make her tech skills next level because she’s that much faster. Awkwafina is no stranger to voice-acting, having brought Sisu the dragon to life in “Raya and the Last Dragon” (2021). She has also held roles in “Ocean’s Eight” (2018) “Crazy Rich Asians” (2018) “The Farewell” (2019), “Jumanji: The Next Level” (2019), “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” (2021) and “Swan Song” (2021).
Shark (Craig Robinson)
Shark is the pro at disguises. As Wolf introduces him, he details how Shark once stole the Mona Lisa disguised as the Mona Lisa. Shark can pull off all kinds of looks, and he is also responsible for distracting when his crew needs a diversion. He constantly begs Snake to share his popsicles with him, but Snake doesn’t exactly give in. Robinson has held many classic roles like that of Darryl in “The Office” and Doug Judy in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Some films he has starred in include the two “Hot Tub Time Machine” movies and “Dolemite Is My Name.”
Piranha (Anthony Ramos)
If you thought these first four crew members were crazy, just wait until you meet Piranha. Anthony Ramos lends not only his speaking voice but also his well-known vocals to the wildcard member of the fivesome. Piranha lends his energy to a singing performance when his friends are trying to locate and steal the Golden Dolphin trophy. One weakness that sets him apart from the others is his tendency to pass gas when he is nervous or lying, but even this weakness sometimes turns into a strength. Ramos is best known for starring on Broadway in “Hamilton” and he led 2021’s big movie musical “In the Heights.”
Diane Foxington (Zazie Beetz)
Foxington also has some surprises up her sleeve. She sees right through The Bad Guys, and Wolf takes a lot of her words to heart. Though her clean cut pantsuits and overall air of organization make it seem like she has it together, subtle details like her jewelry hint at a very different past life of hers. Beetz is best known for starring on the FX series “Atlanta” and playing Domino in “Deadpool 2.”
Professor Marmalade the Guinea Pig (Richard Ayoade)
Professor Marmalade, aka the recipient of the Golden Trophy award, is quite the character. Voiced by Richard Ayoade, Marmalade ultimately got on the map for the competition of goodness when he helped his community band together after the destruction caused by a heart-shaped meteor that struck their city, leaving behind a huge crater and low hopes for coming back from it. It’s Marmalade’s idea to try and convince The Bad Guys to be good. Ayoade first came to prominence in the UK sitcom “The IT Crowd” and wrote and directed the film “Submarine.” His other voice roles include “Soul,” “The Boxtrolls” and “Disenchantment.”
Police Chief Misty Luggins (Alex Borstein)
Human Misty Luggins knows The Bad Guys from experience. She does her best to catch them in their acts, but they have always managed to outwit her, until the Golden Dolphin. But when she has suddenly achieved her only dream, Misty wonders aloud to Wolf who she will be now that she has accomplished her life goal, and the one that defined her career. Borstein currently stars on the Amazon series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and played a key role in “Gilmore Girls.” She is also the voice of Lois in “Family Guy.”
Tiffany Fluffit (Lilly Singh)
Tiffany Fluffit is the other main human character involved amongst the animal ones. A tireless TV journalist, she is always on the scene ready to get the latest scoop. She’s portrayed by former talk show host, YouTuber and comedian Lily Singh.
