TheWrap‘s film critic Alonso Duralde and film reporter Jeff Sneider debate the merits of the movie, including its cartoonish depiction of violence that recalls “Home Alone.”

Denzel Washington stars as a man with a certain “set of skills” who goes to war with a Russian crime syndicate that puts a young Boston prostitute (Chloe Grace Moretz) in danger.

Antoine Fuqua directed the stylish action film, which was written by Richard Wenk and adapted from an ’80s TV series. “The Equalizer” was produced by Escape Artists and also co-stars Marton Csokas and Bill Pullman.
