‘The Flash’ WonderCon Sizzle Reel Promises New Villains, Shifting Loyalties (Video)

Grant Gustin’s super speedster gets some new friends and foes in footage from rest of The CW drama’s first season

Killer bees and talking gorillas are among new villains who will be menacing Central City on The CW’s “The Flash” in the run-up to its first season finale.

In a new sizzle reel for the rest of Season 1 of the superhero comic book drama, which was unveiled at Anaheim’s WonderCon, Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen, aka The Flash, will have his hands full with all sorts of new faces arriving in town.

In addition to the previously teased teamups of superheroes and supervillains, Barry’s confrontation with Reverse-Flash aka his mentor Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) is more front and center than ever — though he doesn’t appear to yet realize that the real Harrison Wells has actually been taken over by a trapped time-traveling supervillain named Eobard Thawne.

Now that Barry has realized time travel is a real possibility in his world, he is more determined than ever to save his mother and free his father, though it probably won’t be a consequence-free changing of the past.

On the romance front, while last we saw him exchange a kiss with longtime crush Iris (Candice Patton), #Snowbarry fans appear to be in for a treat themselves as the new reel teases a kiss between Barry and STAR Labs scientist Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker).

But will it last? Caitlin Snow is the comic book alter ego of a villain called Killer Frost, and at WonderCon, Panabaker teased that an appearance of Caitlin’s more icy side may be coming sooner than fans may be expecting.

“The Flash,” which has already been renewed for a second season, airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
