'The Goldbergs' Hayley Orrantia to Star in 'Maid'

Hayley Orrantia is going from 1980s high schooler to Medieval warrior in her newest project. ABC’s “The Goldbergs” star is set for the lead in a modern day Joan of Arc short film titled “Maid.”

Filming begins Dec. 15 on the short film, which sees Orrantia’s Joan as a young chambermaid working near the Texas border. On one fateful day her enemies, her saints and the mysterious Marfa Lights all combine to chase her toward the fire that will complete her mythic destiny.

Texas playwright Erik Ehn is adapting his own play by the same name, and the short will be directed by his long-time theatrical collaborator Raphael Parry. Orrantia will both star and perform an original song in the film.

Orrantia is best known for her role as eldest daughter Erica on ABC sitcom “The Goldbergs,” which is now in its second season. She is represented by APA.
