“The Good Doctor” is (back) in the building, which almost helped ABC join NBC and Fox in a first-place ratings tie.

While it did a heck of a lot better than the rerun last week, Monday’s original episode of the Freddie Highmore medical drama was not as highly rated as its lead-in, “Dancing With the Stars.”

ABC benefitted at least a bit last night by the fact that 2.4% of the country got “Monday Night Football” on the broadcast network, which this time was a coveted Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants matchup. In other words, readers should consider ABC’s first-place spot among total viewers temporary and subject to downward adjustment when final Nielsen numbers come out later today.

NBC and Fox tied for first in ratings, both with a 1.0 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. NBC had a 4 share, Fox got a 4. NBC was second in total viewers with 6.3 million, according to preliminary numbers. Fox was fourth with 4.6 million.

For NBC, “The Voice” from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. posted a 1.3/6 and 7.8 million viewers. At 10, “Bluff City Law” had a 0.5/2 and 3.4 million viewers.

For Fox, “9-1-1” at 8 earned a 1.3/6 and 6 million viewers. At 9, “Prodigal Son” got a 0.7/3 and 3.2 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 0.9/4 and first in viewers with 6.5 million. “DWTS” from 8-10 averaged a 1.0/4 and 6.9 million viewers. At 10, “The Good Doctor” landed a 0.9/5 and 5.9 million viewers.

CBS was fourth in ratings with a 0.7/3 and third in viewers with 5.5 million. “The Neighborhood” at 8 had a 0.9/4 and 6 million viewers. At 8:30, “Bob Hearts Abishola” got a 0.7/3 and 5.6 million viewers. “All Rise” at 9 received a 0.6/3 and 5.1 million viewers. At 10, “Bull” closed out primetime with a 0.6/3 and 5.7 million viewers.

Telemundo was fifth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.3 million.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.4/2 and in viewers with 1.2 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 754,000, airing all reruns. The CW aired the Giants game in the New York City market.
