‘The Good Doctor’ vs ‘The Resident’: The Tale of the (Surgical) Tape (Infographic)

TheWrap uses its expert knowledge of the medical genre to diagnose this season’s newcomers

Is there a doctor in the house? Oh, there are several.

As usual, it’s still easier to catch a medical drama on broadcast television than a cold, with the 2017-2018 season’s new offerings including ABC’s “The Good Doctor” (starring Freddie Highmore) and Fox’s “The Resident” (starring Matt Czuchry and Emily VanCamp).

And though both revolve around brilliant young doctors (but really, what series focuses on old, dumb physicians?) they couldn’t be more different.

Don’t believe our diagnosis? No problem. TheWrap has the definitive (totally unauthorized) comparison of these dramas (and their drama). See the tale of the tape below. (Context for the sports disinclined.)

So if your love of “Grey’s Anatomy” has kept you from catching a new hospital-set series since 2005, our infographic should help you keep the one about a surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome, and the one about the blonde internal medicine resident who doesn’t play by the rules, straight.

Disclaimer: Feel free to get a second opinion. We aren’t doctors, and don’t play them on TV.

“The Resident” airs Mondays at 9/8 c on Fox. “The Good Doctor” airs right after that, at 10/9 c on ABC.
