Ratings: ‘The Good Wife’ Perks Up 20 Percent for Series Finale

CBS show’s swan song adds 1.5 million viewers in farewell effort

Goodbye, “Good Wife.”

The CBS drama rose 20 percent in the key 18-49 demographic last night with its last-ever episode. In total viewers, the Julianna Margulies series was up 1.5 million from last week.

The final “Good Wife” landed a 1.2 rating/4 share in the main demo and 10.5 million overall viewers, per Nielsen’s fast national numbers. With the boost, CBS was able to tie ABC atop the demo. The Les Moonves-led network easily won total viewers.

CBS and ABC both had a 1.0/4. CBS ended up with 8.8 million total viewers, according to preliminary numbers. ABC was actually third by that measurement, with 3.8 million viewers.

For CBS, “60 Minutes” at 7 p.m. ET got a 1.0/4 and 9.1 million viewers. The “Madam Secretary” season finale at 8 received a 1.0/4 and 10 million viewers. Following the “Good Wife” series finale, the “Elementary” season finale at 10 posted a 0.7/2 and 5.5 million viewers.

For ABC, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 7 p.m. ET had a 1.2/5 and 5.3 million viewers. At 8, “Once Upon a Time” got a 1.2/4 and 3.8 million viewers. “The Family” at 9 received a 0.7/2 and 2.6 million viewers. At 10, “Quantico” landed a 0.9/3 and 3.4 million viewers.

NBC and Fox tied for third in ratings, both with a 0.9/3. NBC was second in total viewers with 4.9 million, Fox was fourth with 2 million.

For NBC, the premiere of “Dateline: On Assignment” at 7 p.m. ET had a 0.5/2 and 4 million viewers. “Little Big Shots” at 8 put up a 1.3/5 and 7.4 million viewers. At 9, “The Carmichael Show” got a 0.8/3 and 3.5 million viewers. “Crowded” at 9:30 received a 0.7/2 and 2.8 million viewers. At 10, “Dateline NBC” closed primetime with a 1.0/4 and 5.1 million viewers.

For Fox, “Bordertown” at 7 p.m. ET managed a 0.4/2 and 1.1 million viewers. Following a rerun, “The Simpsons” at 8 had a 1.1/4 and 2.4 million viewers. At 8:30, “Bob’s Burgers” got a 1.0/4 and 2.3 million viewers. “Family Guy” at 9 received a 1.3/4 and 2.8 million viewers. “The Last Man on Earth” at 9:30 posted a 0.9/3 and 2.2 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.5 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.4/2 and in viewers with 1.2 million.
