If you’ve never seen “The Great British Bake Off,” the trippy new teaser for Season 10 will surely have you salivating.
“Chaos in the supermarkets, as baking fever sweeps the nation,” a faux on-the-street reporter says in the video, while people scurry like rats in the background, grabbing the last flour, butter and milk from the shelves.
And that’s when the kookiness begins:
A zaftig women prays on bended knee to a portrait of celebrity judge Paul Hollywood mounted above her stove; a bearded man in drag and a grandmotherly type enjoy jelly donuts while sitting in a giant cup of coffee; a chorus of tiny coal-covered miners sing from inside a hot oven; a humungous double-layered cake hot air balloon floats high above a picturesque lake.
Then there’s the fencers dueling with baguettes, an egg and a carton of milk jumping rope and, yes, even the Cookie Monster… all set to The Beatles’ “All Together Now” from their “Yellow Submarine” album.
Like we said, t-r-i-p-p-y.
