‘The Magicians’ Cast Conjure Up Teasers of What to Expect From Season 2 (Exclusive Video)

“You get an expanded sense of what the show really can do,” Hale Appleman, with co-stars Harvey Guillen and Summer Bishil, tells TheWrap

The world of “The Magicians” gets expanded in Season 2, according to the stars of Syfy’s fantasy drama.

“The whole show has kind of expanded in scope,” Hale Appleman told TheWrap during an interview with co-stars Harvey Guillen and Summer Bishil.

“Summer, Harvey and I are all characters in the world and realm of Fillory, which is a magical, fantasy kingdom somewhat based on Narnia. It has a lot of those old world fantasy elements, that are brought to life, not for the first time, but you get an expanded sense of what the show really can do, this season.”

Bishil and Appleman’s characters, Margo and Eliot, have been inseparable, but the actors tease a bit of time apart for them in Season 2.

“Well I’m married, and struggling with that,” Appleman previewed for Eliot. “And she [Margo] is seeking her own way. I think this season gives Margo more to do on her own, and less completely identified by Eliot, and I think that’s a good thing … You’ll see them enter into new and different relationships with people, apart from each other.”

“I was surprised how well Margo handled boundaries,” Bishil said. “When Eliot got married, I was like, ‘oh this is going to be great, she’s just going to barge in on them all the time.’”

For Guillen, who joins Season 2 as Benedict, he was just happy the fan reaction was immediate and positive.

“It’s like going to whoever you’re dating’s family for dinner and [you’re like] I hope they like me, I hope they like me,” he said. “And you get there and they’re just like ‘get over here’ and they just hug you. It’s so nice.”

“Our fans are really passionate and really protective of the characters on the show,” Appleman said. “That’s just a testament to them, that kind of reaction.”

“The Magicians” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.
