‘The Secret Life of Pets’ Holiday Teaser Offers Cuteness Unleashed (Video)

Universal/Illumination animated movie starring Louis C.K., Kevin Hart and Eric Stonestreet opens July 8, 2016

Animals don’t always make the best photography models, as evidenced by the new holiday-themed teaser for “The Secret Life of Pets.”

The animated film from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, the company behind “Minions” and “Despicable Me,” follows pets who turn homes upside down when their owners leave for the day.

The new clip introduces the full cast of four-legged characters — including the oversize mutt Duke (Eric Stonestreet), the dog Max (Louis C.K.), the oversize cat (Lake Bell) and the white bunny Snowball (Kevin Hart) — as they struggle to pose for a holiday greeting card.

When the off-screen photographer offers a bone-shaped treat, though, real mayhem erupts.

The film takes place in a Manhattan apartment building. Max’s life promptly changes when his owner brings home a mutt named Duke. However, they must put their differences aside when they find out that Snowball, a white bunny, is building an army of abandoned pets, seeking revenge on all the happy-owned pets and their owners.

Chris Renaud and Yarrow Cheney direct the movie, whose voice cast also includes Ellie Kemper, Jenny Slate, Albert Brooks, Dana Carvey, Steve Coogan and Bobby Moynihan

The animated feature is written by Ken Daurio, Brian Lynch, and Cinco Paul. It will be released July 8, 2016.
