Netflix’s ‘The Society’ Teaser Is Very Reminiscent of ‘Lord of the Flies’ (Video)

Cast includes Rachel Keller and Kristine Froseth

The first teaser for the upcoming Netflix series “The Society” might make parents think twice about leaving their teenage children home alone.

Described as a modern take on “Lord of the Flies,” the series follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a place identical to their wealthy New England town — but their parents are nowhere to be found.

“Mom, it’s me again. Where is everyone?” a teenage girl asks as she leaves her unresponsive mother a voicemail as Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend” plays in the background.

Per Netflix, “The Society” follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town without any trace of their parents. Their newfound freedom will be fun… but it will also be very dangerous. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.

The cast includes Rachel Keller, Kathryn Newton, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, Jacques Colimon, Sean Berdy, Toby Wallace, Gideon Adlon, Olivia DeJonge, Alex MacNicoll, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jose Julian, Salena Qureshi, Jack Mulhern and Grace Victoria Cox.

The 10-episode YA drama series was written by Chris Keyser and directed by Marc Webb. Keyser and Web executive produce, while Keyser is also the showrunner.

You can watch the teaser video above.

“The Society” debuts May 10 on Netflix.
