‘The View’: Sunny Hostin Berates ‘Despicable’ Alec Baldwin Critics After ‘Rust’ Tragedy (Video)

The co-host called out Lauren Boebert and Donald Trump Jr.

As more and more questions start to come up following the tragic accidental death of cinematopgrapher Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust,” the blame seems to be constantly shifting. But for “The View” host Sunny Hostin, there’s one person that definitely shouldn’t be blamed: Alec Baldwin.

On Thursday, a prop gun discharged by Baldwin struck and killed Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. New details in a search warrant issued in the revealed that the gun that killed Hutchins discharged while Baldwin was rehearsing a scene in which he was “pointing the revolver towards the camera lens.”

Discussing the incident on Monday’s episode, Hostin noted that some people, including political figures like Lauren Boebert and Donald Trump Jr. — or “ghouls” as Hostin referred to them — have been saying terrible things about Alec Baldwin, since he was the one who fired the gun. And that just doesn’t sit right with Hostin, or the other hosts of “The View.”

“You know, a woman died here. A woman who was a mother, a wife, someone who was, they say, just wonderful at her craft. A cinematographer, just starting,” Hostin said. “When you have people like that coming out, trying to, I don’t know, take some sort of opportunity and a shot at Alec Baldwin — I thought that that was pretty disgusting and despicable.”

Indeed, on Sunday night, Trump Jr. created and began advertising shirts that his followers could purchase through his online store that read “Guns don’t kill people, Alec Baldwin kills people.” As of Monday morning, the link to purchase them had been taken down, but the photoshopped image of Baldwin wearing the shirt was still present on Trump Jr.’s Instagram story.

Trump Jr. also reposted a meme to his Instagram story, which suggested having “Trump play Baldwin in a skit shooting someone ‘accidentally’….”
