This is Randall and Beth in the first scene of “This Is Us” Season 3. And you’re welcome, but we can’t take credit for the adorable shot, as the NBC family drama’s creator, Dan Fogelman, was the one to share the preview pic Tuesday on Twitter.

“First scene up, Season 3 baby!!! #ThisIsUs,” the showrunner wrote, alongside the cute snap of stars Sterling K. Brown (Randall) and Susan Kelechi Watson (Beth) looking mighty excited. The two appear to be screaming about something over another lovely breakfast in the Pearson family kitchen, but, you know, in a happy “Beth and Randall” kind of way.

The Season 2 finale of the tearjerker dealt with many a present day problem for the Pearsons, but ultimately ended happily with Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) tying the knot — and a beautiful dream of Kate’s involving a vow renewal between Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) on their 40th anniversary. (So that’s what “Old Jack” was all about.)

Of course, who would Fogelman be if he didn’t give you something new to worry about over the hiatus? Namely, a series of flash-forwards.

In the final moments of the episode, as Randall gives a toast at his sister’s wedding, we see glimpses of the future. Some seem optimistic and not too far off, and others are way down the road and hint at some serious tragedy.

One brief scene showed future versions of Randall and Tess, who we first saw earlier this season, sitting together looking completely shook. “It’s time to go see her, Tess,” Randall says to his adult daughter. “I’m not ready,” she tells her dad. “Me neither.” See who? Beth? Is it Beth? Is she okay? What is going on here?!?

We’ll have to wait till the show returns this fall to find out (or, like, maybe two more seasons to find out), but it at least looks like she’s doing OK in the present day — for now. Sigh.

“This Is Us” returns Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c on NBC.
