TV Land has ordered Funny or Die’s “Throwing Shade” to pilot.

The Erin Gibson/Bryan Safi project plans on taking “all the issues important to ladies and gays and treating them with much less respect than they deserve,” per a media release.

“Throwing Shade” is based on the podcast and web series of the same name. Those versions cover women’s rights and gay rights, and are equal parts pop culture and politics.

The podcast itself boasts more than 10 million downloads, and won the People’s Choice Podcast Award for the Best LGBT Podcast in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

“We are huge fans of the podcast,” states Keith Cox, executive vice president, Development and Original Programming, TV Land. “Erin and Bryan’s talent and chemistry are undeniable, and with Charlie Siskel on board, we have an even more amazing team. Their unique perspectives belong on TV.”

Creators Gibson and Safi are executive producing, writing and starring on the potential series. Siskel is showrunner, and will exec produce alongside the stars, as well as Andrew Steele, Anna Wenger and Joe Farrell.

The pilot episode of “Throwing Shade” is shooting in Los Angeles.
