Weinstein Co. Buys ‘Dirty Girl,’ Redford’s ‘Conspirator’ Gets Offers

Emilio Estevez’s “The Way” and David Schwimmer’s “Trust” attracting interest from buyers

Buyers are circling and landing some of the hottest projects out of Toronto, as a slow market shows starts to thaw.

The Weinstein Company has bought U.S. rights to “Dirty Girl,” TheWrap has confirmed. For approximately $3 million, the company will also get to distribute the quirky coming of age drama in the United Kingdom, France, Australia/New Zealand, and South Africa. Milla Jovovich, and Willam H. Macy star.

Attracting the most heated attention is Robert Redford’s “The Conspirator.” The film, which documents the aftermath of the Lincoln assassination, went into the festival hoping to find a distributor. Bolstered by strong reviews and a cast that includes heavyweights such as Robin Wright and Kevin Kline, the movie has already received four offers.

Also getting interest from distributors are David Schwimmer’s “Trust,” Emilio Estevez directing his father Martin Sheen in “The Way,” and Jon Turturro’s look at the music of Naples, “Passione”
