I am pleased to announce the promotions of Tim Molloy to Executive Editor and Thom Geier to Managing Editor of TheWrap, effective immediately.
In seven months of working together, Tim and Thom have built a partnership that has deeply impacted our newsroom for the better, bringing a balance of talents and skills to a hard-charging news staff that only continues to expand.
Tim, a veteran of the Associated Press, TV Guide, Frontline and Boston.com, was with TheWrap for four and a half of our toughest early years, serving as our TV editor based on the east coast. He returned to the site in January as deputy managing editor and has now moved to Los Angeles to be at our headquarters.
Thom, previously a senior editor at Entertainment Weekly after stints at The Hollywood Reporter and US News and World Report, joined the site in May 2015, and has taken to the nonstop pace of a digital site with a dedication that is inspiring.
It is a true pleasure to watch them collaborate, set growth and coverage goals and achieve them while sharing the leadership of the newsroom in a way that has benefitted our readers and our staff.
Together with our Director of Audience Engagement Andrew Curry, their work has led to 120 percent year over year growth in page views on the site, higher engagement, increased uniques, robust video and significantly increased coverage from popular culture to politics.
They have my confidence in continuing to build our readership to a broad, consumer-facing audience, even as we deepen our commitment to be essential reading to the decision-makers in media and entertainment.
Their new titles formalize the specific responsibilities that Tim and Thom have embraced as co-deputy managing editors, and position our organization to be stronger as we grow.
On that note, I am pleased to welcome Matt Pressberg, recently of International Business Times, and Umberto Gonzalez, the founder of HeroicHollywood.com, as beat reporters on our movie team. Matt will focus on deep business reporting while Umberto will cover deals, casting and development. They round out a fast-moving, deeply sourced and passionate team of movie reporting ninjas.
Under the leadership of Tim and Thom, TheWrap newsroom has never been stronger, our coverage has never been deeper and our voice never more vibrant than it is today.
Thank you for joining me in congratulating them, welcoming our newest arrivals and in aiming, as we do every day,
Onward and Upward,
