Tim Roth to Star in David Cronenberg’s ‘Knifeman’ Series

"Lie to Me" star Tim Roth will headline a series about a self-educated surgeon obsessed with uncovering the secrets of the human body

Roth will play John Tattersall in the series, which chronicles "the trials and triumphs of a radical, self-educated surgeon" who goes to "extraordinary and unorthodox lengths … to uncover the secrets of the human body."

Cronenberg will direct the pilot episode of the series, which is based on the Wendy Moore book "The Knife Man," and will executive-produce the series. "Friday Night Lights" writer/producer Rolin Jones, who's writing the series, is also executive-producing, along with Sam Raimi, Josh Donen and Robert Zotnowski. Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment is co-executive producing.

Media Rights Capital, which is behind Kevin Spacey's upcoming Netflix series "House of Cards," is producing the series.
