‘Big Bang Theory’ Big Proposal: Leonard Finally Pops the Question to Penny (Video)

And it is full of references to delicious pastries

It was the “Finally!” heard ’round the world. After years of breaking up and making up, Leonard proposed to Penny on Thursday night’s “The Big Bang Theory.”

Leonard’s love for Penny has been evident ever since they met in the pilot episode. Fans waited with bated breath for the inevitable moment to happen, and it arrived in true awkward fashion, complete with the appropriate references to pastries.

After being fired from her movie, an exasperated Penny wants to re-evaluate her life. She makes an offhanded remark about her and Leonard getting married.

Leonard called himself a “bran muffin” for being a safe decision and accused Penny of reacting compulsively because she was feeling sorry for herself. That’s when Penny claimed that being fired from the movie “was the best thing that could have happened to me. I finally realized I don’t need to be famous or have some big career to be happy.”

“What do you need?” Leonard asked.

“You, you stupid Pop-Tart!” Penny answered.

And then, Leonard pulled out a ring he’s been keeping in his wallet “for a couple of years” and gives Penny a proper proposal. Sniff. Sniff.
