TLC’s ‘My 600lb Life’ Season Premiere Follows Woman Desperately Shedding Weight for Surgery (Exclusive Video)

Season four of weight loss reality series premieres Jan. 6

In the season four premiere of TLC’s “My 600lb Life,” a woman tries desperately to meet the weight requirements for gastric bypass surgery.

The premiere episode follows 33-year-old Nikki Webster, who weighs close to 650 lbs, and can barely keep up with the demands of her job as a costume designer. Growing up, Nikki was a ‘secret’ eater: as a fourth grader, she wore adult-sized clothes; by high school she weighed 300 lbs.

Today, Nikki knows her food addiction is killing her, but she feels powerless to stop the eating binges that she hides from friends and family. Surgery is her only option.

In an exclusive clip of the episode obtained by TheWrap, Nikki meets with her doctor to determine whether she is healthy enough to undergo surgery.

While she’s lost a considerable amount of weight in just one month, the doctor is concerned that her heart is not strong enough to survive the procedure. He advises her that if she loses some more weight, then she’ll be ready.

“My 600lb Life” premieres Jan. 6 at 9 p.m/8c followed by the series premiere of “Skin Tight” at 10 p.m./9c.
