TNT Gives Eric McCormack Another Try as ‘Mentalist’-esque Crimefighter

After striking out with the Turner networks’ ad-business-centered “Trust Me” last year, former “Will & Grace” will get another shot

Eric McCormack has another opportunity to get a series going on TNT.

The cable network signed the former "Will & Grace" star to the lead role on a new pilot called "Perception," in which he'll play an eccentric neuroscientists who helps the FBI solve complex cases.

It's the second go at a TNT series for McCormack, who last year starred in the network's short-lived "Trust Me." He also co-produced the pilot "Imperfect Union" for the network.

The pilot will be co-produced by TNT and ABC Studios, with Kenneth Biller ("Smallville") and Mike Sussman ("Star Trek: Voyager") executive producing.
