Tobey Maguire Responds to Andrew Garfield’s Reaction to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Trailer (Video)

Mashup video gets more than 1 million views on YouTube in just two days

A video that has amassed more than 1 million views in just two days shows ex-Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire reacting to fellow ex-Spidey Andrew Garfield’s reaction to the trailer for the new film starring new Spider-Man actor Tom Holland.

If that’s too confusing, just watch the video by YouTube user DrMachakil — who mashed up existing scenes from past Maguire and Garfield movies to make this hilarious meta-reaction video with the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming” at its epicenter.

A little over a week ago DrMachakil made a trailer featuring only Garfield’s crestfallen response to seeing another guy wearing the Spidey’s red tights. Of course, if Garfield is sad about being upstaged by Holland in real life, he’s hiding it well, showering the new Peter Parker with nothing but praise. Plus, he’s not having a shabby year at all, earning praise and awards season buzz for both Mel Gibson’s “Hacksaw Ridge” and Martin Scorsese’s “Silence,” and nabbing a Golden Globe nomination for the former.

Still, the video mashup is a real crowdpleaser, ending with Maguire’s words of inspiration to Garfield: “You just gotta believe in yourself and pull yourself together and get back on the horse.”

DrMachakil used scenes of Maguire in 2011’s “The Details,” along with footage of Garfield from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and Maguire in “Spiderman 3.”

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” — which does not star Maguire or Garfield — opens in theaters July 7, 2017.
