Tobey Maguire, Kristen Wiig Fall in Forbidden Love in Will Ferrell’s ‘Spoils of Babylon’ (Video)

“Sixth Sense” star Haley Joel Osment also appears to have a crucial role in IFC’s epic parody of melodramatic miniseries

Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig have a very complicated relationship in the first trailer for Will Ferrell‘s IFC miniseries, “The Spoils of Babylon.”

It’s hard to make sense of exactly what is going on in this satircal odyssey, but Maguire portrays Devon Morehouse — the adopted son of a business tycoon played by Tim Robbins — while Wiig plays his sister-turned-lover, Cynthia Morehouse.

Fans of “The Sixth Sense,” who have been wondering when Haley Joel Osment would become relevant again, should be pleasantly surprised by the former child star’s dramatic turn as Maguire’s nemesis, Winston.

Jessica Alba, Carey Mulligan, Michael Sheen and Val Kilmer also appear in the comical melodrama, while Will Ferrell opens and closes each episode as fictitious best-selling author Eric Jonrosh — who wrote the fictional work of fiction on which the series is based on.

“The Spoils of Babylon” premieres on IFC on Jan. 9.
