The “Today Show” team are championing what they believe will be the next Ice Bucket Challenge.

On Tuesday morning, Meredith Vieira and Willie Geist challenged Matt Lauer and Kathie Lee Gifford to the Twizzler Challenge — a new stunt easily shareable through social media — in an effort to raise money and awareness for autism.

Born on the eve of Comedy Central’s 6th biennial “Night of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together for Autism,” the Twizzler Challenge was suggested by a Twitter user, who dared Geist to take the challenge with “Orange Is the New Black” star Uzo Aduba.

After Lauer and Gifford ate the licorice candy until their lips pecked,  Carson Daly asked, “Who’s the lady and who’s the tramp?”

Gifford challenged Regis Philbin and Hoda Kotb to share a Twizzler for a good cause, while Lauer plans to compel the same from “Mad Men” stars Jon Hamm and John Slattery when they appear on the NBC morning show Mar. 23.

Last year’s Ice Bucket Challenge went viral with the help of celebrity endorsements, and ended up raising $220 million from around the world for the ALS Association.
