Tom Rothman’s TriStar Names 3 Production Executives

Lindsay Sloane, David Beaubaire and Nicole Brown will join the revived TV and film company next month

Newly revived TriStar Productions is ramping up with the hiring of three production executives, the company said Wednesday.

Lindsay Sloane (right, in photo above) will join from Hypnotic as senior vice-president, focusing on television. David Beaubaire (center, above) from Paramount will be executive vice-president and Nicole Brown from Good Universe will be sr. vice-president, both focusing on film.

The trio will begin work on the Sony lot in November, according to TriStar Chairman Tom Rothman.

“Nothing is more important to a young company than the quality and composition of new colleagues, and I feel like we won the Triple Crown,” said Rothman. “David, Lindsay, and Nicole each have their own areas of expertise, but the plan is for us all to work collaboratively to make TriStar a uniquely integrated film and television company. They are all leaving great jobs to come here and I am honored and excited to get started working together.”

Rothman, the former chairman and chief executive at Fox Filmed Entertainment in August partnered with Sony Pictures to revive TriStar Productions. The plan is to create four movies per year and develop TV programming for Sony Pictures Television. Sony Pictures will provide financing for the new entity and retain all distribution rights worldwide.

Beaubaire was previously executive vice-president of production at Paramount, a post he’s held since 2008. In that post he oversaw numerous adult-oriented films, including Robert Zemeckis’ “Flight” and Jason Reitman’s “Up in the Air.” Beaubaire’s experience also includes executive positions at DreamWorks SKG and Warner Bros. Pictures. Before moving to LA, he served as Special Assistant for Cabinet Affairs for President Bill Clinton.

Sloane has a breadth of television experience, on both the buying and the selling sides. She was a producer for David Bartis and Doug Liman’s company, Hypnotic, where she developed and sold numerous projects and served as co-executive producer on USA Network hit “Covert Affairs.” Before joining Hypnotic, Sloane co-ran the drama department at Fox Broadcasting Company. Prior to Fox, she was a vice-president at USA Network, where she developed one of USA’s longest-running series, “Psych.”

Brown’s career in the independent film world has been marked by her discovery of new talent and her work with first time directors like Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Drew Barrymore, Lorene Scafaria and Diablo Cody. She was most recently executive vice-president of production at Good Universe (previously Mandate Pictures), where she oversaw the development of the company’s film slate and managed the creative infrastructure. She executive produced this summer’s hit comedy “This Is The End,” and shepherded the upcoming feature “Neighbors,” and “Last Vegas,” set for a Nov. 1 release via CBS Films.
