Trevor Noah Looks at Trump, Schumer and Pelosi’s ‘Awkward Threesome’ in the White House (Video)

“The Daily Show” host also imagines POTUS trying to talk dirty to Santa

Trevor Noah kicked off Tuesday’s “The Daily Show” with a look at the very public argument Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Donald Trump had in the White House — and admitted he’s willing to credit Trump for some slight character growth, maybe.

The topic: Pelosi and Schumer went to the White House Tuesday to talk with Trump and Vice President Mike Pence about Trump’s willingness to accept a government shutdown if Democrats refuse to approve a budget that funds a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. During their heated discussion, Pelosi referred to such an outcome as a “Trump shutdown,” and Trump surprised observers when he bragged that he would be proud if that’s what people call it.

First, Noah joked that the wall is Trump’s number one Christmas wish, but that Santa isn’t going to give it to him. “Because if there’s one person that’s on the naughty list, it’s Trump.”

“Santa’s like, ‘Oh you’ve been a naughty boy this year Donald. You put children in cages,’” joked Noah, who said Trump “is like ‘Yeah, I’ve been so naughty, I’ve been a bad boy… Spank me Santa, spank me!’”

Noah then jumped into the “awkward threesome” between Trump, Pelosi and Schumer — with a brief aside to joke about what the notably silent Mike Pence was thinking during the meetup. Getting to the point where Trump welcomed a shutdown being named after him, Noah said, “I don’t know if you realize how monumental this moment is. Donald Trump just agreed to take blame for something.”

“Taking blame shows some growth on his part. Although if we’re being honest,” Noah continued, “he probably just thinks that if the government shuts down, there’ll be nobody there to impeach him. Which is the second thing he asked Santa for.”
