Trevor Noah Talks Kanye West, AKA ‘Breaking News From the Sunken Place’

The rapper has been heavily criticized for tweeting in favor of Donald Trump

Trevor Noah thinks maybe having too much money is to blame for Kanye West’s recent, and highly unexpected love for Donald Trump.

“I don’t even know what happened here,” Noah said on Wednesday’s episode of “The Daily Show.” “I think Kanye realized he’s too rich to not be Republican.”

Earlier on Wednesday, West tweeted that he has “love” for the president despite not agreeing with all of his actions. “You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him,” he wrote. “We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone.”

That was followed by a few more tweets discussing his support for Trump, including a photo of his signed “Make America Great Again” hat. And earlier this week, Alex Jones even asked Kanye to come on his conspiracy-minded YouTube show “Infowars.”

“Breaking news from the sunken place,” Noah said at the top of the bit, referencing Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning horror film “Get Out.”

“You know this is probably going to confuse people on Fox News, right?” Noah continued. “They’re probably gonna be” — at this point, he adopted an extremely “white” sounding accent — “Why don’t these celebrity rap thugs stay out of politics and… sorry I mean this guy understands the American people, he understands all of them.”

What’s weird, Noah continued, is that “Kanye is the same guy who said George Bush hates black people. That’s right, he said, ‘George Bush doesn’t care about black people.’ But he’s the same guy who loves Trump? Like when George Bush sees this on Twitter he’s gonna be like ‘what the f—?”
