TV By The Numbers

Tribune Digital Ventures, the technology division of the Tribune Company, is acquiring television ratings site TV By The Numbers. It didn’t disclose the terms of the deal.

The media company has also relaunched television and pop culture site, Zap2it.

Previously a Zap2it content partner since 2010, TV By The Numbers content will be used to continue providing ratings analysis and data to Tribune’s sites and licensed to third-party apps and services.

“Our goal is to make TV By The Numbers a must-have analytics and data resource for passionate viewers and Hollywood insiders alike,” said Tribune Digital Ventures president, Shashi Seth, in a statement. “Viewership numbers, audience reviews and social data are increasingly becoming reliable indicators of TV show popularity, making TV By The Numbers analysis data essential to the evolving ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Tribune’s relaunch of Zap2it is geared toward directing readers to its linear TV and streaming services, as well as include integrated advertising opportunities designed to reach that valuable audience.

“With so much outstanding TV programming available on so many different platforms today, there has never been a better time to be a TV fan,” said Zap2it’s executive director of sales, Brian Campbell.
