Triller Launches Metaverse Platform for Live Music and Sports

The move comes a few weeks after Triller announced it will receive an investment of up to $310 million

Triller is entering the metaverse. On Monday, the entertainment platform announced the Metaverz, a virtual reality for fans to gather and watch live events together.

According to the company, the Metaverz will have multiple online spaces for fans where they can attend a virtual concert, or go to a club or see a sporting events. The space will be open to everyone, allowing fans to also interact with their favorite celebrities and influencers.

“We are extremely excited to debut the Metaverz and open up direct access to creators from all corners of the world,” Mahi de Silva, CEO of Triller, said in a statement “We are committed to expanding offerings for our users, creators, and businesses, and entering the metaverse strategically positions Triller at the forefront of several compelling trends including Web3 and decentralization. We are now on the frontline of the future of creator content – from NFT-backed collectibles and memorabilia to virtual concerts to gaming and shopping, the Metaverz ecosystem will be groundbreaking.”

The launch of the Metaverz comes just a few weeks after Triller announced it will receive an investment of up to $310 million from Global Emerging Markets, a Luxembourg-based private alternative investment group, in conjunction with its pending initial public offering.

With the launch of the platform, Triller hopes to create the “most advanced live event metaverse platform available today,” and create an entirely “new world.”

“When your favorite sporting event is a continent away, you can still be there with front row seats, sharing unforgettable moments with other fans,” Christopher Taurosa, Head of Metaverz, said in a statement. “If you want pursue a new digital shopping experience, you can shop at one of the stores in our virtual shopping malls, or, if gaming is something you enjoy, you can play along with your friends and interact with the community in so many new engaging ways only available in the Metaverz.”

To celebrate the debut of the Metaverz, and showcase exactly what it’s meant for, Triller will host an event featuring DJ and electronic artist Sam Feldt performing live from the Netherlands during the Amsterdam Dance Event, on October 22. Along with Feldt’s set, fans will be able to virtually attend Triller’s own Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, Triller Fight Club, Verzuz and others.
