Trump Once Called Reince Priebus Into the Oval Office… To Kill a Fly (Report)

An early sign that there were bugs in the POTUS’ relationship with his former chief of staff, according to The Washington Post

Among Reince Priebus’ duties when he was White House chief of staff: killing a fly for the POTUS.

A source told The Washington Post that during a meeting in the Oval Office, President Trump was upstaged by a pesky fly that wouldn’t leave him alone. The president called Priebus into the office and told him to kill the little rascal. If you’re wondering if that is listed in the chief of staff’s job description, no, it’s not — although “protecting the interests of the president” is.

Needless to say, The Post cites that as an example of how the working relationship between Trump and Priebus was on a downward trajectory near the end of his term.

Trump has pushed out Reince Preibus, naming Ret. Gen. John Kelly as the new White House chief of staff Friday. Priebus, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee, was out just hours after Trump’s attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act was defeated on the Senate floor and just one day after the president’s new communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, publicly attacked Priebus in a profanity-laced interview with the New Yorker.

Priebus had struggled to win the confidence of the president during his six months on the job. He has been under intense scrutiny since Trump brought on Scaramucci as his new communications director.
