Trump Demands ‘DEATH PENALTY’ for NYC Attacker After Fox News Segment

It looks like Donald Trump is also a fan of Fox News’ evening coverage

On Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to call for the death penalty for New York City terror suspect  Sayfullo Saipov.

“NYC terrorist was happy as he asked to hang ISIS flag in his hospital room. He killed 8 people, badly injured 12. SHOULD GET DEATH PENALTY!,” he said.

The tweet suggests that Donald Trump may be a fan of Fox News’ new 11:00 p.m. “Fox News @ Night” which opened the program with a segment from reporter Eric Shawn which mentioned that tidbit about the ISIS flag.

“We are told he remains unrepentant tonight and defiant, court papers saying that he wants to hang the ISIS flag in his hospital room and that he also was glad and happy that he killed eight innocent people,” said Shawn

At the end of the segment Shawn also mentioned the death penalty.

“Saipov,” he said “could potentially get the death penalty.”

Of course — as many pointed out Wednesday evening — Trump’s public weighing in on the matter will likely make a compelling case for any defense lawyer looking to convince a judge to spare Saipov’s life.

The president however didn’t seem to mind and reiterated his call again on Thursday morning.

“Would love to send the NYC terrorist to Guantanamo but statistically that process takes much longer than going through the Federal system,” he tweeted. “There is also something appropriate about keeping him in the home of the horrible crime he committed. Should move fast. DEATH PENALTY!”
