Trump Gives Shout-Out to Kanye West Pal Candace Owens: ‘Very Smart’

“She represents an ever expanding group of very smart ‘thinkers,'” tweets POTUS

President Donald Trump offered a special shoutout Wednesday morning to Kanye West mentor Candace Owens.

“Candace Owens of Turning Point USA is having a big impact on politics in our Country,” wrote Trump on Twitter. “She represents an ever expanding group of very smart “thinkers,” and it is wonderful to watch and hear the dialogue going on…so good for our Country!”

The tweet may have precipitated from an appearance on “Fox & Friends” earlier Wednesday by Owens, who serves as director of urban engagement for the conservative student group, Turning Point USA. Owens was on set to promote dialogue (and trash a New York Times Op-Ed that called her an “alt-right darling, a black woman and puppet.”)

“I mean, am I the only one that feels like this is extremely elementary,” she told the cast on the couch. “It’s like walking down the hallways of a middle school. I think pretty soon i’m going to get shoved into a locker by these leftist journalists.”

Owens has seen her star skyrocket in recent weeks. Before Trump and star turns on “Fox & Friends,” she was singled out by rapper Kanye West who lauded her “thinking” as well.

The above tweet from West was the beginning of what has been weeks of bizarre pro-Trump commentary that ultimately got him his own shout-out from Trump but alienated many in his core fan base. Last week Breitbart editor-in-chief Alex Marlow suggested he’s be keen for Kanye to write for his website.
