Trump Jr Says President Will Be Proven Right About London Mayor: ‘This Is a Recurring Theme’ (Video)

“Maybe we have to keep calm and actually do something,” Donald Trump Jr. tells ABC News

Donald Trump Jr. defended after President Trump has been criticized for mocking London Mayor Sadiq Khan on the heels of a terror attack in his city, saying his father will be proven right.

“Every time he puts something out there he is criticized by the media, all day every day. And guess what? Two weeks later, he’s proven to be right,” Trump Jr. said to ABC News‘ Tom Llamas in an interview that was previewed on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America.”

Trump has been scrutinized by everyone from MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” to the Wall Street Journal for tweeting that Khan’s remark saying there was “no reason to be alarmed” was a “pathetic excuse.” Many commentators noted that the president took the comments out of context because the mayor was simply saying an increased police presence offered “no reason to be alarmed.”

Trump Jr. specifically said the mayor of London is not at fault for the recent attack, but the Trump family clearly disagrees with critics of the president’s tweets.

“We keep appeasing it,” Trump Jr. said. “And we keep saying, “OK, it’s gonna be great. We’re gonna hold fast and we’re gonna ‘keep calm and carry on.’ Maybe we have to keep calm and actually do something.”

The president’s son continued: “He’s been proven right about it every time. This is a recurring theme.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump took to Twitter to defend himself on the same topic. He singled out CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, the Washington Post and the New York Times for trying to silence him on social media.
