Trump Questions Paul Manafort Indictment: ‘Why Aren’t Crooked Hillary and the Dems the Focus?’

”Sorry, but this is years ago, before Paul Manafort was part of the Trump campaign,“ POTUS tweets

President Donald Trump addressed news that his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort faced a 12-count indictment on Monday stemming from special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.

“Sorry, but this is years ago, before Paul Manafort was part of the Trump campaign,” POTUS tweeted on Monday just hours after Manafort surrendered to Department of Justice authorities.

“But why aren’t Crooked Hillary & the Dems the focus?????,” the president continued, before adding,  “….Also, there is NO COLLUSION!”

Manafort and his close associate, Rick Gates, were indicted Monday on 12 counts including conspiracy against the U.S., conspiracy to launder money, unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false and misleading statements related to the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act, false statements and seven counts of failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts, CNN reported.

Manafort had been under investigation before signing up with Trump. At this time, none of the charges relate specifically to Manafort’s work with the campaign.

The pair have already surrendered to authorities.
