Tupac Dumped Madonna Because She Is White, According to Letter From Prison
”For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open & exciting,“ Pac wrote in 1995
Tupac Shakur and Madonna were a thing for a little while in the mid-90s, but the reason for their breakup is just coming to light today.
The “Changes” rapper dumped the Material Girl via a prison letter penned on Jan. 15, 1995, citing reasons of race and optics.
“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open & exciting,” Pac wrote. “But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was. I never meant to hurt you.”
Tupac went on to discuss an interview in which Madge hurt his feelings, and pointed to their differing levels of relationship experience as a source of insecurity.
Then there was this ominous warning: “Please be careful Madonna. Everyone is not as honorable as they seem. There are those whose hearts bleed with envy & evil. They would not hesitate to do you harm!”
The emcee concluded the correspondence by asking the pop star to visit him in the clink.
Here’s the letter, which was obtained by TMZ and will soon go up for auction. The note is no “Dear Mama,” but it’s pretty good.
