‘Twilight Forever’ Digs Up Edward and Bella’s Terrifying Animatronic Baby, Chuckesmee (Video)

“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” almost cast a 60-pound puppet to play Renesmee

Before Mackenzie Foy stepped in to play Edward Cullen and Bella Swan’s child Renesmee in the final chapter for “The Twilight Saga,” producers enlisted a terrifying animatronic doll to play the part.

The creation was so creepy, that she was compared to “Child’s Play” villain Chuckie, and earned the nickname Chuckesmee.

“Chuckesmee is one of the most grotestque animatronic babies ever to not be seen on film,” producer Wyck Godfrey says in special feature (above) from the “Twilight Forever” Blu-Ray/DVD collection that went on sale on Tuesday.

Described by “Twilight” actress Nikki Reed as a “60-pound mechanical doll,” it’s puzzling why producers and director Bill Condon ever thought it would be a good idea. And why she needed to look like Yoda’s illegitimate daughter with Princess Leia.

Fortunately for the dreams of the tween fans who flocked to see blockbuster franchise comes to an end last year, the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2” team quickly realized that Chuckesmee was better to be buried in DVD extras.

“The second you were holding it up, you realize, ‘This is never going to work,’” Godfrey adds. “No fake thing is ever going to do the trick.”

Unless you want a supernatural “Twilight” spinoff that’s actually scary, of course.
