A hack wreaked havoc in Twitterville on Tuesday, affecting thousands of users that accessed Twitter via Twitter.com and simply scrolled or moused over an infected tweet.
One those hacked users: me. Another: White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
Twitter users using third-party applications, such as TweetDeck, or their mobile phones to access the social messaging service appeared to be largely unaffected by the hack.
The virus appears to be more annoying than anything else — blocking access to the Twitter.com homepage.
Twitter said that they had “identified and are patching a XSS attack,” and that the “exploit” was fixed shortly before 10 a.m. (ET).
