President Donald Trump took to Twitter to celebrate International Women’s Day on Wednesday, tweeting about his “tremendous respect” for the opposite sex — and social media users were quick to mock him relentlessly.

It started early this morning when Trump tweeted the following:

Trump has had a strained relationship with women — especially women’s rights advocates — since announcing his intentions to run for president. His campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, was the first successful female campaign manager to ever oversee a presidential bid. Trump is also extremely close with his daughter, Ivanka, and has allowed her to be a vital part of his political team.

However, the day after Trump was sworn is as the 45th President of the United States, hundreds of thousands of protesters took part in the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., and in several other cities around the world.

Trump has also been accused of sleazy behavior, including sexual misconduct, by a variety of women over the years. Back in 2005, Trump made hot-mic comments to then-“Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush that resulted in outrage when the tape was leaked prior to the election.
