Tyler Perry’s ‘For Better or Worse’ Premiere Gives OWN its Best Wednesday Ever

“For Better or Worse” premiere improves on average from previous season, which ran on TBS

OWN got over the hump in a big way on Wednesday night, enjoying its most-watched Wednesday in the network’s history thanks to the Season 3 premiere of Tyler Perry‘s “For Better or Worse.”

The premiere episode at 9 p.m. Wednesday grabbed more than 1.5 million total viewers, and grew to 1.6 million total viewers with its second episode, pushing OWN to to its most-watched Wednesday night in the network’s history.

In the women 25-54 demographic, the premiere drew a 1.23 rating, with the second episode pulling 1.29 rating in the demo.

Compared to the average for the show’s second season, which aired on TBS, the “For Better or Worse” premiere was up 16 percent in the demo, while the second episode at 9:30 was up 22 percent.

The series, which is directed, executive produced and created by Perry, centers on successful salon ownger Angela Williams
(Tasha Smith) and her husband of 13 years, former professional football player Marcus (Michael Jai White), who’s working on a new sports news program called “C-Sports Now.”
